3. Indications for Use.

   – general cancer of prostate gland as part of combined therapy with the use of LHRH analogue  (luteinizing hormone releasing hormone) or in combination with surgery castration (tablets of 50 mg);
   – locally-general cancer of prostate gland as a mono-therapy or adjuvant therapy (tablets of 150 mg) in combination with prostatectomy or radiotherapy;
   – locally-general non-metastatic cancer of prostate gland in the cases when surgery castration or other medicated interventions are inadmissible (tablets 150 mg), in the form of mono-therapy.

4. Action

The drug provokes «involution» of tumors of prostate gland.

5. Posology and Administration

Tablets 50 mg are administered to manhood (along them to elderly ones) in a dose of 50 mg/daily. The therapy should be started at the same time with LHRH analogue treatment or together with surgery castration.
Tablets 150 mg are administered 150 mg once/daily in the form of mono-therapy.
Kidney failure patients and ones with insignificant compromised liver function do not need a dose correction.

6. Counterindications

  – simultaneous administration with Terfenadine, Astemizole, Cyzaprid;
   – hypersensitivity to Bicalutamide and other components of the drug;
   – Casodex is not to be administered to women and children.

7. Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…

Casodex is well exercised by most patients, and in but rare cases it is necessary to be cancelled because of the side effects that it provokes.
With caution Casodex is used in patients with moderately and severely manifested compromised liver function. Most changes of the liver function are registered during the first 6 months of the treatment

9. Overdosing

There has not been described any case of overdosage in human being. In overdosage there is a repeated probability of a substantial increase of side effects. 10. Side Effects

On the part of cardio-vascular system: heart failure.
On the part of intestinal system: anorexia, dry mouth, disorder of alimentary system, constipations, drum belly.
On the part of central nervous system: dizziness, headache, insomnia, drowsiness, fall of libido.
On the part of respiratory system: labored breathing.
On the part of urogenital system: impotency, quantitative increase of night urination.
On the part of blood formation system: anemia.
Dermatologic reactions: hair loss, rash, enhancement of perspiration, overgrowth of hair.
On the part of metabolism: diabetes, edemas, increase or decrease of the body mass.
Others: pain in the stomach, pain in the breast, pain in pelvis zone, cold fits.
However, it should be noted that there have not been able to prove cause-effect relations between these effects and Casodex therapy; moreover, some of these effects often emerge in elderly patients without Casodex therapy.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation

Casodex is counterindicated to women and it can not be administered during pregnancy and breast-feeding.

12. Driving

It is unlikely that Casodex infringes the ability to drive a car or any moving mechanisms.
